It is situated in a charming environment inside the cantonment area of Bangladesh Ordnance Factories.

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society was established by the President's Order 26 of 1973 as an auxiliary to the Public Authority. It is a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), committed to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, i.e., Humanity, Neutrality, Impartiality, Independence, Unity, Voluntary Service, and Universality.

History of BDRCS, Blood Program:

1981: Starting of Blood Program with the assistance of  SWISS and FINNISH Red Cross in Bangladesh in this place.

At present 10 Blood centers under Blood program

  1. Red Crescent Blood Center, Mohammadpur, Dhaka
  2. Red Crescent Holy Family Medical College Hospital, Dhaka
  3. Chattogram,
  4. Sylhet,
  5. Rajshahi,
  6. Dinajpur,
  7. Jessore,
  8. Natore
  9. Magura and
  10. Gopalgonj

Our Activities:

  • Motivation for Voluntary Blood Donation
  • Donor recruitment, Donor retention & counseling
  • Blood collection (mobile and indoor), Preservation and Distribution
  • Blood screening (HIV/AIDS, HBsAg, Anti-HCV, Syphilis, malaria parasite), grouping, CBC test and cross matching
  • Blood component preparation
  • Blood transfusion for Thalassemia patients.
  • Linkage with Bangladesh Government, ICRC, IFRC, GAP and other partner societies.

Recent Activities:

  • Collection and distribution of bloods to different hospitals for the injured students
  • Dengue supports: Our centers working 24 hours to supply the platelets, PRP (Platelet rich plasma) and other blood components to the patients
  • COVID-19 supports: We providing supports with blood transfusion and blood products supply  7/24 without closing for a single day
  • Emergency FFP (Fresh Frozen Plasma) supplied  to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS), after Narayangonj mosque fire.
  • Suppling blood/blood bags to field hospitals Vasanchar and Cox’s Bazar.
  • Supplying bloods to other blood centers and hospitals.
  • Daily blood transfusion to thalassemia patients.
